Posted by: The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles MORE / LESSDESCRIPTION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Reporting to the Sr VP: Ensuring the Jewish Future, the VP: Jewish Education & Engagement leads and supervises the work of the Jewish Federation related to formal Jewish Education & Engagement from the earliest years of a child’s life through 12th grade.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Develop strategic initiatives addressing key issues of Federation’s concern in Jewish Education & Engagement. Oversee the development of the Federation’s lay leadership committee and investments in this area. Develop policy recommendations on emerging issues. Supervise staff in EJF/Jewish Education department. Act as liaison to other Federation departments, as well as to related agencies and organizations, seeking collaborative opportunities as appropriate.

Guide approach to and stimulate utilization of alternative sources of funding. Provide oversight for the development of project proposals for donors. Assist campaign staff in cultivating donors. Cultivate and develop leadership for this area. Participate in the annual campaign, including donor solicitation and cultivation. Participate in collaborative Federation and community planning process with other program and campaign colleagues.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Be available for additional assignments as needed. Other duties may be assigned as needed including assisting with the Campaign.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION Advanced Degree in Education/Social Science/Humanities/Business Admin.

Minimum of seven years of management experience in Jewish education (formal and informal), community organizing, community relations, fundraising and/or planning and program development functions for a Jewish communal agency. Expertise in strategic planning, grant funding, supervision, policy analysis, leadership cultivation, evaluation, and research methods. Knowledge of Judaism and the Jewish community. Excellent oral and written communications; interpersonal and organizational skills. Appropriate education and related experience strongly desired.
