A small shop with a big vision, Mayyim Hayyim, based in Newton, MA is seeking a motivated, self-starter to help capitalize on Mayyim Hayyim’s development efforts to create a major gift culture, partnering with the Board in establishing and stewarding major donor relationships, and managing communications. Position Open Immediately.

Organization:

Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters Community Mikveh and the Paula Brody & Family Education Center is an innovative, growing non-profit organization dedicated to reclaiming and reinventing the Jewish ritual of mikveh with contemporary meaning. Our staff includes two full-time and five part-time positions plus interns and active volunteers. We provide education programs to children and adults throughout the greater Boston area, immersion pools (mikva’ot) for those seeking to mark a life transition with the Jewish ritual of immersion, an art gallery, and consultation services to other communities nationally.

The majority of our clients, 80%, are women.

Out of an annual budget of $650,000 – 750,000, approximately $400,000 – 500,000 comes from fundraising revenues.

Position:

The Part-time Senior Development Officer reports to the Executive Director and will develop and execute Mayyim Hayyim’s annual fundraising plan with a focus on major gifts, and manage organizational communications. This new position actively engages our key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Develop and Execute Mayyim Hayyim’s Annual Fundraising Plan Develop and execute Mayyim Hayyim’s resource development, with a focus on major gifts Create and execute strategy for large sustained base of annual individual donors Secure financial support from individuals via personal solicitations, appeals, and coordinating Moves Management for Executive Director and lay leadership to maintain ongoing relationships with major donors Collaborate with Development and Events Coordinator Partner with lay development committee; present to board of directors at quarterly meetings Manage Organizational Communications and Promotion Coordinate fundraising materials and publications Oversee social media strategy, including blog content Coordinate writing, designing, and sending Constant Contact email Promotions Perform other duties as needed Assist Executive Director tracking foundation proposals and reporting Qualifications BA (required), MA (MBA, MSW) (a plus)

5 – 10 years’ experience in areas including development, marketing and communications, public relations Proven track record in cultivation, solicitations, and stewardship of major donors Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills Knowledge of FileMakerPro or other database
