Job Description

Yachad– Department of Youth and Family Education Congregation Beth Elohim Congregation Beth Elohim, a dynamic and innovative Reform congregation of over 1000 people in Park Slope, Brooklyn, seeks a Religious School (Yachad) Administrator/B’nai Mitzvah Coordinator. Our full time and part-time staff work as a team to develop formal and informal educational programming for children in grades K-12 and their parents and families, including work in the classroom, special programs for Shabbat and Jewish Holidays, service projects, etc.

Responsibilities include: Yachad Administration • General office administration for Yachad and administrative support to Associate Rabbi and Associate Director of Yachad

• Oversee registration for all Yachad Programming • Coordinate room reservation and set-up for Yachad events

• Maintain and distribute Yachad program calendars, staff calendars, and schedules of daily operations

• Answer general phone, email and written inquiries about Yachad and B’nai Mitzvahs

• Manage the departmental office(s), including maintaining inventory and ordering and purchasing supplies, texts, photocopies, food, and other materials, ensuring that basic supplies are always available. Coordinate maintenance of office equipment with the Administrative staff

• Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense reports for Yachad and B’nai Mitzvah programs

• Process all time sheets for payroll for Yachad and B’nai Mitzvah programs on a bi-monthly basis B’nai Mitzvah Program Coordination

• Confirm details of ceremony with family, and prepare set-up sheets for maintenance staff • Collect honor information from family and create Friday night and Saturday morning services pamphlets

• Help coordinate the scheduling of student and family meeting with clergy and tutors

• Create yearly calendar in conjunction with clergy (collect and confirm data, assign dates, assign Torah portions, update with assigned tutors)

• Order and distribute Torah portion booklets

• Maintain and distribute other materials (B’nai Mitzvah booklet/manual, suggested vendors, etc.)

• Schedule and coordinate B’nai Mitzvah class meetings (includes creating set-up, ordering food, preparing materials, inviting/reminding families)

• Discuss specific needs for kiddush with each family The ideal candidate:
• Works independently, as well as being a team player
• Has experience in program administration
• Excellent at multi-tasking and detail orientated
• Excellent writing and interpersonal skills work
The position requires periodic evening and weekend work throughout the
academic year, with regular hours Mondays & Wednesdays 10:30am-7:00pm, Tuesdays & Thursdays 11:00am-
8:00pm, and 28-30 annual Shabbat mornings from 8:30am-1:30pm.

Hebrew knowledge preferred and familiarity with Reform Judaism essential.
