Full-Time Recruitment Coordinator

Job Description

Kesher Israel Congregation of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, invites applications for a
Recruitment Coordinator. A new position, the Recruitment Coordinator will have great
opportunity to be entrepreneurial and innovative on behalf of a Modern Orthodox community.
He or she will report to the Rabbi of the congregation with some operating responsibility to the
Recruitment Oversight Committee.

Position Statement
The Recruitment Coordinator is charged to recruit Modern Orthodox individuals specifically for
Kesher Israel Congregation membership and to simultaneously identify employment and other
opportunities to encourage relocation to Harrisburg to assist in rebuilding and sustaining the
community.

Responsibilities
• Identify individuals to relocate and to become productive members of the congregation;
• Create relationships with individuals, groups, and communities within and outside of
Harrisburg;
• Establish relationships with regional employers, associations, small and big businesses;
• Work to be the first to learn about potential jobs and opportunities in area;
• Promote individual candidates for positions with those companies;
• Attend job fairs to support network building and job identification;
• Assist with résumé and interview skills of identified candidates to enhance the prospect
of employment;
• Create positive publicity about the Kesher Israel Congregation and the community; and
• Develop relationships with the Orthodox Union, Yeshiva University, Landers College,
Touro College, Hillel, Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus and other pertinent
organizations and associations.

Minimum Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
• Baccalaureate degree or equivalent (preferred);
• Expert Web site and social media skills;
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills;
• Understanding of planning and budgeting responsibilities; and
• Ability to travel/current driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a Modern Orthodox man or woman who is knowledgeable
about the Modern Orthodox community. The candidate will become a member of Kesher Israel
within 30 days of commencing work. Preferably, the candidate already will reside in Central
Pennsylvania; candidates from outside of the region also will be considered. Any candidate from
outside of Central Pennsylvania must relocate to Harrisburg within 30 days of commencing
work.

Compensation and Benefits
It is anticipated that the position will be full-time and in place for a minimum of two years.
While interim reports may be required by the Board, a formal review, including progress,
efficacy and continued funding, will be performed annually. The anticipated salary will be
$30,000 to $40,000. The position offers benefits and expense reimbursement, along with bonus
opportunities.
