DEPARTMENT: EJF/Leadership Development


POSITION STATUS: Union – Grade 13-A, Exempt, Salary Range: $49,274 to $68,215


Reporting to Sr VP, Young Adult Engagement & Leadership Development, the person filling this position is responsible for generating awareness in the L.A. community for Taglit-Birthright Israel trips and post-trip programming. This person will be responsible for publicizing and managing all L.A. Way Birthright-Israel trips and any other similar trips sponsored by the Jewish Federation.


Direct the Los Angeles community Taglit-Birthright Israel program.

Identify, train and select staff for community trips. Direct and supervise bus staff for community trips. Oversee distribution of information and referral to prospects and families about Taglit-Birthright Israel. Identify and cultivate Taglit-Birthright Israel alumni leaders to enhance Taglit-Birthright Israel and the Federation’s public position. Develop, facilitate, and implement pre-trip orientation for participants and parents. Coordinate the Taglit-Birthright Israel and Trip Providers: LA Community trips; recruitment strategy, madrichim training, orientations, itinerary, niche trips, participant lists, and overall information. Educate participants about Federation’s role. Work with other Federation professionals to integrate alumni in a range of young adult activities and programs. Coordinate with national organizations, including BRI Foundation. Assist with Fundraising. Serve as liaison to program vendors.


Be available to supervisor as required for additional assignments related to principal duties. Other duties may be assigned as needed including assisting with the Campaign.


Bachelors required, advanced degree preferred. Planning skills and experience needed. Knowledge of Jewish life, Birthright Israel and the Los Angeles Jewish Community required. Birthright alumnus/a preferred.

Should be familiar with and have previously traveled to Israel.

Excellent interpersonal, organization and communications skills desired. A wide degree of creativity and independent judgment is expected. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Web/Technology needed. Familiarity with and active use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picassa, blogs and other online social media tools preferred.
