The Educational Alliance is a non-profit organization that changes lives. Founded in 1889 to help Jewish immigrants get settled in the U.S, we currently serve 50,000 New Yorkers annually, a broad and diverse group of all religions, ethnicities, races and socio-economic backgrounds.

The Alliance is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial professional to support our Preschool Director in an administrative and programmatic capacity and perform the duties necessary to maintain smooth day to day operations of the preschool.

We are currently In the midst of an exciting renovation of our flagship building, which will be completed by September 2013. By incorporating visionary design and impressive space planning, it will be transformed into the Lower East Side’s quintessential urban community center. The EA Preschool Coordinator will work with the Director to expand and grow the school in a new, state of the art facility in a neighborhood rich in history and culture. The school and the entire community center are an ideal environment for learning through exploration. Families who join the preschool will have the opportunity to learn in a rich variety of ways including art, health and wellness, education and Jewish traditions that have personal meaning through the cycles of life.


The Coordinator will be responsible for planning events that that engage community and families; scheduling and conducting tours for perspective families; distributing and maintaining registration packets and scholarship applications; assisting with the supervision of staff and determining workloads and schedules for the program staff; collect and maintain tuition records; maintain children’s health records; assist with logistical and planning tasks associated with program work, site visits, meetings and related activities.



College degree required, MA/MS preferred. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to approach tasks that are complex and urgent in a systematic, deliberate, and efficient manner. Must present to staff, families, and colleagues in a professional, warm, engaging, and exemplary manner. Must have strong work ethic, be a committed team player with an entrepreneurial spirit who is willing to take risks and adjusts swiftly to change. Must facilitate and model respectful, cooperative, and responsible interaction amongst staff and demonstrate commitment to excellence and professionalism. Ability to work with poise, passion, and high energy to build a fantastic program, while smoothly accomplishing multiple demanding tasks in a flexible and fluid environment. Willingness to support Director in an administrative capacity as well as to launch initiatives independently. Ability to think creatively and strategically in the development of excellent systems addressing preschool needs. Ability to work with minimal supervision and excellent follow-up skills are essential for this position. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point required. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Physical agility to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, stoop, walk, reach overhead, push/pull, squat, twist, and turn.
