Middle School Hebrew Language and Culture Teaching Position, 2013-2014

P/T Position Available Due to Increased Enrollment:

Qualified candidates will be masterful educators, exhibit a love of Hebrew language and culture, have facility in differentiating instruction, and possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Candidates should be comfortable working in a pluralistic Jewish setting that welcomes students from all Jewish backgrounds. We seek educators who are committed to collaborating and growing in their teaching practice, supporting diverse learners in the classroom, and able to serve as role models for engaged learning of Hebrew and Israeli culture.

 

Teaching responsibilities include: teaching up to 3 classes in our middle school program.

Candidate should possess the ability and willingness to work with students in various group settings using multiple teaching methods.

Candidate may lead an Advisory class to foster year-long academic, social and emotional growth for a small group of students in conjunction with other faculty members and the school counselor.

Candidate may teach one or two electives per semester. Electives are a faculty members’ personal choice and do not need to be related to their core subject.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, teaching credential from an accredited institution (North America or Israel) and at least 3 years of previous Middle School and/or High School teaching experience required.

Good classroom management skills important. Training and experience with “Responsive Classroom” preferred.

Experience in an interdisciplinary environment with an emphasis on group collaboration is especially valuable.

Candidate must be proficient with technology. Classrooms have interactive whiteboards and both teachers and students have iPads.

Some technology training provided.

Regular attendance at faculty meetings and open houses is required. As our school is community centered, attendance at additional school activities is strongly encouraged.

Part-time salaried position.

Hausner’s middle school program, where the average student-teacher ratio is 18:1, was founded in 1998. Our middle school classes per grade are expanding once more in 2013-14. Our 1:1 iPad program, introduced in 2012-2013, provides on-demand access to technology resources, both at school and at home. MS students participate in electives ranging from media arts to drama, to programming and sports.

Four-acre Palo Alto campus features a first-rate library, beit midrash, two computer labs, an art/music room, and an expansive outdoor playing field.
