Full-Time Jewish Education Associate

Job Description

This role is about bringing Jewish education to life for current Gann Academy students and creating opportunities to engage prospective students. We’re seeking candidates with genuine excitement and infectious passion for Jewish education.

The Jewish Education Associate will work with faculty, administration, and students to plan and implement a variety of student activities, Jewish life and Israel programming. This position reports to the Assistant Head of School for Jewish Education.

This is a full-time, 10-month, in-person position with a salary range of $40,000 to $45,000 annually, reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Jewish Education.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Admissions: work with the admissions team to plan and deliver programming to engage prospective students.
  • Student Life: work with the Dean of Students to plan and facilitate new students Revisit and Orientation Days.
  • Jewish Life Experiences: Collaborate with faculty to envision, plan, and execute Jewish holiday celebrations and programs. This includes attending Shabbatonim and other programming outside normal school hours, and leading activities as appropriate.
  • Zman Kodesh (Tefillah): collaborate with Zman Kodesh leader in planning and facilitation of special programming (e.g., Rosh Chodesh) and facilitate a minyan or alternative prayer group.
  • Israel Programming: Support the planning and delivery of elements of Israel education, (e.g., exchange programs, trips, and Yom Haatzmaut celebrations).
  • Jewish Studies Department: Attend Jewish Studies department meetings, observe Jewish Studies classes, and act as substitute as appropriate.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Experience working with teens, ideally in a Jewish summer camp or youth group environment.
  • A background in Jewish studies and/or good knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed empathy.
  • Ability to work within a pluralistic Jewish setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Self-starter with good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a number of projects, assimilating information with accuracy and consistent attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent computer skills in Excel, Word, and ability to quickly learn school specific software programs.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • B.A. Degree is preferred.
