Full-Time Grants Manager

Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Foundation, Corporate and Government Support, the Grants Manager position is dedicated to securing support for the 92nd Street Y’s programs from foundation, corporate and government sources for operating, capital and endowment purposes.  In addition, the Grants Manager is responsible for tracking and stewarding grants and gifts received.  Within the Development Department’s Foundation, Corporate and Government Support Unit, work as part of a team of four fundraising professionals and one support position.

 Essential Functions

• Prepare foundation, corporate and government grant proposals for programs in 92Y’s eight programmatic centers, including a strong focus on the Bronfman Center for Jewish Life.

• Prepare and submit timely interim reports, final reports and other necessary requirements to funders.

• Develop and prepare budgets and supporting materials for proposals and applications.

• Cultivate and manage key relationships with funders.

• Maintain tracking of grants received, and analyze grants pending or anticipated; manage gift lists for current and prior fiscal years.

• Identify new sources of support and prepare research profiles on existing funders and prospects.

• Ensure proper crediting of foundation, corporate and government funders to programs for inclusion in published materials.

• Work closely with the program staff to become thoroughly familiar with a wide array of programs, and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders – both verbally and in writing.

• Represent 92Y and its programs in meetings, site visits, and phone conversations with foundation, corporate and government representatives.

• May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to job responsibilities.

Educational Requirements

Bachelors degree, with Masters Degree preferred

  Skills and Experience Required

• Between three and five years previous experience in foundation, corporate and government fundraising, grant writing, prospect research, and/or related areas.

• Extensive knowledge of foundation, corporate and government funding communities.

• Proven track record in donor cultivation and securing support from corporate and foundation sources.

• Exemplary writing, interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet grant and reporting deadlines.

• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with the facility to understand complex budgeting models.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office and Excel with knowledge of Tessitura database preferred.

Hours of work:

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility in schedule needed to meet deadlines and attend various programs and events.
