Internship Fundraising and Communications Intern

Job Description

Located in mid-town Manhattan, the Familial Dysautonomia (FD) Foundation is seeking an energetic and personable intern for the Fall 2021 semester. The Foundation raises funds to support medical care and research to help those affected by FD, a rare Jewish genetic disorder. You will have the opportunity to work in a hands-on environment with a small, fast-paced team. Days are flexible, but we ask that you work at least 2 days/week. Internship is virtual and unpaid.

You should apply if:

  • You are currently enrolled in a college or graduate level classes, or are looking for a career change
  • You have a desire to make an impact for people affected by this genetic disorder.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe suite (Photoshop, illustrator) and Canva; video production software experience preferred
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to manage social media platforms
  • Interest and desire to learn more about communications and the development field

As an intern, your day to day will vary, but your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with social media content generation
  • Assist staff with social media monitoring
  • Support with roll out of targeted advocacy campaigns
  • Logistics support for special events and conferences
  • Grant research and grant writing
  • Developing infographics and presentations
  • Providing editing support and content for production of videos, webinars and other multi-media platforms
  • Administrative tasks as needed
  • Working with volunteers
