Full-Time Financial Controller

Job Description

Our client, a sub-contracting service company in the construction field, has an immediate need to fill a financial controller’s position to effectively lead and manage the accounting department for the company and its various subsidiaries.

Duties and responsibilities:
Provide reliable financial accounting; manage the entire accounting AR and AP staff.
Strongly influence, develop and implement financial policies and procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.
Manage accounting department by providing direction, monitoring results, and ensuring proper internal controls are in place.
Set annual goals and performance targets and establish strategic goals for the accounting department that are in line with the corporate strategic plan and goals.
Provide organizational development, manage personnel administrative functions including staff planning, training and cross training, recruiting, salary administration, and performance administration.
Responsible for the budgeting/forecasting function for the company in order to prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and other management data.
Establish work calendar, budget guidelines and templates.
Provides support to the business unit managers.
Initial contact and oversight on all audits, including year-end, benefit plan, state and federal, in addition to any other company audits.
Responsible for ensuring audits are completed in a timely manner as well as update management on the status of issues that arise.
Report preparation – internal & external reporting includes financial budgets/forecasts, quarterly updates, strategic planning business analyses, tax returns, etc.

Experience Required:
3 years of financial management experience with knowledge of current general accounting practices.
3 years supervisory experience with proven ability to effectively manage accounting teams.
Experience must include in-depth exposure to general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, financial compliance and financial analysis.
Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
Analytical and problem solving abilities.
Work independently to meet specific deadlines on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Complete work in an accurate and detailed manner.
