Full-Time Early Childhood Services Director

Job Description

The Foundation School Director is a full time, professional position.

This positon is supervised by, and directly accountable to, the Executive Director, but must work cooperatively as a positive member of the Neveh Shalom staff team with both other professionals and support staff.

Qualifications

a. Hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Special Education OR approved equivalent as defined by CCD* (see below)

b. Have knowledge of child development for the primary ages served in the school, professional references, education, experience, and / or training c. Have a minimum of one year of training and / or experience in management and supervision of adults d. Be knowledgeable of and involved in Jewish practices and synagogue life e. Have excellent organizational and time management skills f. Have computer skills g. Be enrolled in Criminal History Registry with CCD

h. Hold a current certification in First Aid and CPR

Responsibilities

a. Serve as overall professional leader of Foundation School / Early Childhood Services for the Congregation b. Oversight of administrative functions including, but not limited to financial management, recordkeeping, budgeting, policy development, maintaining standards and procedures, and ensuring appropriateness of program activities c. Staff hiring, orientation, supervision, management and training d. Program content including curriculum, calendar, meal planning, etc.

e. Recruitment and enrollment of students f. Parent relations g. Staff Advisory Committee h. Operate school and programs in compliance with certification requirements (State of Oregon and NAEYC) i. Maintenance of building and grounds of areas accessible by children j. Staff resource for Shoreshim and Tot Shabbat programming k. Support and participate as part of the synagogue professional staff team l. Identify and develop program responses to early childhood needs of congregants

*CCD Equivalent

Documentation of attainment of Level 3 or 4 in Professional Development Registry AA/AS degree from a college with a major in early childhood education, child development or related field A one year State or Nationally recognized credential (CDA) Completion of 20 credits of training in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or special education AND at least one year of qualifying teaching experience in a certified child care center
