Job Description: Development Manager
The Development Manager identifies, defines and develops funding sources to support existing and planned programs. They will coordinate the development, writing and submission of grant proposals and will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting the data on the programs supported by funding. They are responsible for individual giving, annual appeal, and all other forms of fundraising. The Development Manager works with all departments within the organization and reports to the Executive Director.
Primary Responsibilities
• Research and identify new government and private foundation funding opportunities
• Generate proposals and supporting documents required for solicitation of gifts
• Generate revenue for existing and new programs and services as defined by Board of Trustees and Executive Director
• Manage and supervise junior staff/interns where applicable
• Assist Executive Director and the Board of Trustees in cultivation of individual gifts
• Develop planned giving program
• Write reports for Board, Committee and other agencies that require reporting
• Maintain and implement a fundraising calendar, including grant writing, annual appeal and other fundraising activities
• Work with the Conference and Events Manager on cultivation events
• Work with all departments regarding fundraising for departmental projects
• Serve as the staff person for the Development Committee
• Reach annual fundraising goals as defined by annual budget and strategic plan
• Assists Executive Director with planning for individual gifts
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Executive Director

Employment Requirements
• BA required in relevant field
• 3 years related experience in grant writing, fundraising and development
• Proven record of successful grant writing
• The ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
• Ability to reach set goals
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills with sharp attention to details
• Willingness to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), database management
