Job Description

Job Summary:
Our client, an importer and large supplier of finished goods for the construction industry, is seeking to hire a corporate controller to join the finance team.

The corporate controller is responsible for the divisional accounting duties to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results. The position is also responsible for leading, organizing, directing and controlling the work of accounting personnel in collecting, summarizing, and interpreting financial data for the use of management, creditors, and taxing authorities. Must direct budget and cost controls and accounting practices. Will help develop forecasts for proposed projects, measures actual performance against operating plans and standards and interpret the results of operations for all levels of management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies & procedures.
Provides leadership to the finance and accounting team regarding technical accounting questions and updates the organization on changes to critical accounting policies and procedures.
Preparation and review of monthly financial performance (revenue, operating profit and cash). Review monthly reconciliations and journal entries to assure accurate financial information is generated and proper internal controls are in place.
Provides guidance to the management team supporting strategic decisions, capacity planning, capital requests, standard costs, variance analysis, physical inventories, operational metrics and other management objectives.
Protects assets by establishing and monitoring the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and procedures.
Provides financial and accounting leadership, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration support for special projects.
Analyzes financial and operational information to determine the most efficient use of resources and capital. Develops strategic recommendations and solutions to the operational units and senior management team.
Assists achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
Actively participates in initiatives and special projects as required by senior management, divisional leadership, and corporate.
Assists with the development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance the productivity, efficiency and workflow if the Finance Department.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of public accounting and/or manufacturing experience is required.
Accounting systems experience .
Management experience in leading accounting professionals and interfacing cross-functional teams is required.
Ability to effectively prioritize work, establish and execute plans to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and work under pressure with strong attention to details i
