Job Description

TITLE: Full-Time Certified Genetic Counselor

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

POSITION DESCRIPTION: To provide telephone-based genetic counseling and genetics information to women and families concerned about hereditary breast cancer and ovarian cancer, oversee the development of Sharsheret’s genetic resources and materials, and build Sharsheret’s outreach and education for genetic counselors and health care professionals addressing the unique issues of Jewish women and families at increased risk for hereditary breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and related cancers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified genetic counselor with a minimum of two years of experience in cancer genetic counseling • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environment • Passion for issues related to breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and women’s health • Flexibility to travel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Speak one-on-one with women and family members calling with genetics questions • Coordinate telephone-based family conference calls • Meet with genetic counselors and medical providers at major medical centers to introduce Sharsheret and the Genetics for Life Program • Present and exhibit at local and national conferences and meetings • Assist in the development of Sharsheret’s genetics educational resources and teleconferences
