Full-Time Board Relations/Development Manage

Job Description

Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty MORE / LESSDESCRIPTION The Board Relations/Development Manager will work collaboratively with the Chief Advancement Officer, Senior Development Manager and other key staff to coordinate and manage the activities of the Society of a Thousand, the Board of Directors and Board Committees and Task Forces.

This position will play an important role in the development of Major Donors Giving Circles and the Board of Directors, as well as many other aspects of Met Council fundraising. The successful candidate is an individual with the ability to build relationships with donors and the Board of Directors and be an enthusiastic representative of Met Council. Additional responsibilities will include:


Major Donor Fundraising – 60%:

Development, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of the Society of a Thousand (donors of $1,000).

Assist with site visits (board and non-board related).

Provide event support (Food for Life, Builders’ Luncheon, Legislative Breakfast, etc).

Donor research.

Development of Fundraising Campaigns and Proposals.

Board Liaison – 40%:

Attend all Board related meetings; take minutes at Board meetings.

Responsible for all administrative and scheduling duties related to Board Committees and Task Forces.

Responsible for Board missions and site visits.

Work as general liaison to Board members and their families.

Work with Volunteer Department to engage Board members and their families in volunteer activities Coordinate Board giving with Chief Advancement Officer Coordinate Board giving to UJA-Federation of New York with current liaison Engage Board in Met Council events Responsible for all Board stewardship (acknowledging Board gifts, holiday and birthday cards, other informational mailings) Assist with fundraising proposals for Board members and other donors.


Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with major donors Excellent written and oral communication skills Understanding of non-profit board dynamics Ability to work both as a team player and independently Detail oriented and strong organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel Raisers Edge knowledge preferred Education and or/ experience:


Bachelors Degree required. 2-3 years fundraising experience required.

Previous work with non-profit Boards or high level donors preferred.
