Job Description

This medical research facility is currently based In Hawthorne NY (Westchester) but moving closer to NYC to Ardsley, NY as of July 1st. This is a very good place to work in term of people, benefits and career success!
Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the budgeting and reporting function including the annual preparation of detailed departmental and master budget files, assisting in re-forecasting efforts, and assisting the Staff Accountant-II in working closely with department managers to report and understand monthly and/or year-to-date activity and variances. This individual also assists with performing month/quarter/year-end closing procedures as needed including journal entries and month-end reconciliations.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

•Creates and maintains individual departmental budget templates for annual budgeting process.
•Works closely with department managers to obtain full detail and support of all budget assumptions and figures.
•Prepares detailed monthly variance reports on a departmental basis.
•Supports Staff Accountant-II in collaborating with department managers to ensure accuracy of expense account coding and to obtain explanations for variances between actual and budgeted expenses.
•Collaborates with Accounts Payable to ensure proper general ledger coding is applied to invoices.
•Assists with the month-end close process as required, recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations.
•Assists with SOX compliance by following Finance internal requirements.
Computer Skills:

•Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, and have advanced Excel skills.
•Prior experience with general ledger systems is required.

•Ability to prioritize and multi-task successfully in a fast paced environment.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Ability to manage both day-to-day operations as well as project work in a fast paced environment.
Education and/or Experience:

•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
•Minimum of one to three years experience in public and/or private accounting.
