Temporary Academic – Teacher of Jewish Studies

Job Description

OPENING: Drew University, a selective liberal arts college in Madison, New Jersey, seeks applications for a one-year, non-renewable position teaching Jewish Studies in the Religious Studies Department for the calendar year 2013 (Spring 2013 and Fall 2013 semesters). Rank and area of specialization within the field of Jewish Studies are open, but preference will be given to experienced teachers and published scholars.

Strong preference for applicants who can teach both semesters, but applications from those available to teach only one of the two semesters of 2013 will also be considered. Experience in administering a Jewish Studies program is a plus. The successful candidate will teach a 2 course load each semester and run co-curricular events for the Jewish Studies program. Essential course for the Spring semester is the annually offered “Introduction to Judaism,” as well as guest teaching three lectures on Judaism in the department’s core course, “Introduction to Religion”. Only those with a PhD and at least two years of university teaching experience need apply. Letters of application, including a full resume, a list of courses taught in the past, and name and contact information for three professional references should be sent to Prof.
